Bug Zappers

I always like to take a better safe than sorry approach when in comes to my boys and was wondering if there are any dangers associated with bug zappers?
Live inland audtralia near flood planes and the bug population is insane! They don't bother me as much as my partner, who wants to get the zapper, I just don't want to harm the birdies, sorry if this is seeming pedantic!

If I'm not mistaken, bug zappers can cause a health risk. When the bugs are zapped, their dead bodies can scatter pretty far, and the air around it can have bacteria that could be inhaled....hold on...let me try and find the article....
