I picked up my first IRN a little over a month ago. He's 8 years old and had been neglected by his previous owner for over a year before she surrendered him to the bird store she had gotten him from. Right now I have him in an 18"x18"x54" cage. I don't think its quite big enough for him. So my question is, what size should I upgrade him to? He's only in his cage while I am at work, or when it's time to sleep. Otherwise he is outside of his cage with me and the other birds.

Sorry, that your Thread had been missed!

Take a look at BirdCages4Less as I have used them for a very long time.

You need two measurements to determine 'minimum' cage size.
- Size of the head between, but not including the eyes. A large bar spacing can result in you Parrot hanging itself. So, you should look at something smaller.
- The maximum wing span of your Parrot with some additional room.

Target a cage that has a depth of around 24" x a width of 30" x a height of 60"
The larger the better.

Take a look at the Amazon Forum and the second Sticky Thread, titled: I Love Amazons -... Within that huge Thread, you will find a Segment on Cages. That will provide you a solid guide.

FYI: Look at cages with a full height front door! I see it as a monitory and once you have used one, you will likely have the same feeling.
