Hi everyone,

i know this might seem a little over the top and crazy but i have been looking into getting a camera so that i can view my quaker live while i am at work and just check in on him from time to time. My idea was to set one up on the top side part of the cage, kind of pointing down through the bars so that i could get a clear view. I did end up purchasing a small one but the angle isn't wide enough to get the whole cage, since it is so close i only can see like half the cage and if i move it back its kind of hard to see him through the bars.

is anyone else as weird as me lol and has figured something out? Thank you!

I know a few people on the forum who do have cameras for their parrots. One person noticed their bird caught in a toy and was able to rush home and save him.

We've had a variety of setups - Raspberry Pi with infrared at first, then now a Xiaomi camera. We're still deciding on the location of it because of a similar problem: the night vision reflects too strongly on the white cage bars, so we're working out a casing solution to put it inside his cage instead.

I got a little camera as a $5 add on from Amazon last year. It normally retails for $25 and it’s actually pretty great. I think the brand is Wyze. I like to peek in on Bumble from time to time.

Please keep me in mind when you have found a solution. Thank you!

Do you have this set up on the inside of the cage? or how is it set up so that you can clearly see the whole cage?

Not over the top at all lol (at least....I have done it...)
I used my laptop camera---if you have a laptop, set it up on a table and go to youtube and create a live-stream (set it to the setting that isn't private and isn't public---it's the middle one...can't remember the name). Create the stream and then click the share button before going live---If I recall it looks like a paperclip or something (email the link to yourself)...Then go live and as long as you can access email from your phone the live-stream will be visible.

lol glad im not the only one thinking of this. Ive thought of so many things i have like i have an old iphone i can use as a camera but my thing is i feel like it is hard to really see him through the bars event he camera i purchased like i can put it infront of his cage but idk i just wanted something a little more clear no as far as resolution because it is a 1080p camera but maybe something with a wide angle i could put right up against the cage to view inside the cage without the bars being an issue.
