Parrots
Lilo - Female Green Cheek Conure ~ Pal - male cockatiel ~ Pheobe - female cockatiel
As some of you may know, I had to bring Lilo camping with us so I could give her medicine. I was very nervous about it because I have never done that before with any parrots. But she had a blast! She loved being outside with us and just being there! We went on walks around while she was in her carrier, and she just ate some seed and watched the world go by! Then we were driving on this dirt road we stopped to go biking (Lilo wasn't with us) and a man drove up to ask us something and I could hear a bunch of talking in the back and I'm like hm they have a loud kid then up steps on his shoulder a BLUE FRONTED AMAZON! He was not a sweet bird but very handsome! It was all an amazing trip! We had to take Lilo out of the trailer while cooking and brought her inside when the motor bikes drove by but thank goodness there was a burn band up so no camp fires! :D I would do it again and if anyone is wanting to camp with parrots just remember the gas when your cooking and gasoline from bikes or cars and diesel from trucks. Parrots can fly of cores so don't take em out of their cage unless you got a harness because there are some big birds hanging around for a great snack! I know its an obvious one but it is so hard to resist the little guys when they are looking at you with that pwees can't I come out? Look! :) Anyways I loved it, Lilo loved it so it was a great trip! :p :rainbow1:

Glad you had a great trip and that Lilo got to experience camping for the first time! Kind of crazy you ran into another bird owner:)

I do feel I have to ask....WHY NO PICTURES?! lol:)

Yes I would love love looovveee to put up pictures but my camera was dead!!! I was so so soo mad!!! :( I can't believe I forgot the charger for it! :(

I have taken my 8 month oldEclectus, Mango camping in a motorhome 2x this yr so far. He absolutely loves it. Looking out the windows while riding on my shoulder, cooing, preening my bald head! Lol! He has gone on alot of walks with us as well. He is somewhat harness trained, when we start walking or sitting having a few drinks he forgets all about the harness thing, till we go Inside and remove the harness. He hasn't had the harness on for a while now, because he is moulting. I think all the pin feathers would just dig bac into him creating a bigger obstacle to overcome later. Anyway, I think everyone should try to take their feathered friends ouy for a stroll every now and again, they love it!

Aaaaww! Thanks for the update! I am so glad she went with you!!

Thanks guys! I like camping more with her than without! If I leave without her I miss her and don't want to come home, but when she comes with I never want to leave!
