I wondered if anyone knows of a nail-trimming perch that works and is safe. I've read that Polly's Pastels are the best, but they seem to be hard to find in pet stores. If anyone can provide recommendations I would really appreciate it. Thanks!:green2:

I use safety pumice perches and think they are amazing, my galah cockatoo Rosie uses a medium and I never need to clip her nails and her nails don't cut me up anymore ;)
I purchased mine at Petsmart, but they can be bought online too.

Thanks, Copperarabian! How do you make sure that Rosie spends enough time on the trimming perch for it to work?:green2:

I put Valentino's right in front of his food dishes. He has to use it to eat. I love how only the sides are the rough surface and the top is smooth. This helps to keep Valentino's pads nice and soft and not develop sores. (Yes, I check his feet everyday while I am playing with those giant talons. I think he now expects me to massage his feet EVERY DAY! LOL)

I have a few placed near food dishes for my guys, I shy away from the perches as for the sores they can develop, even though I provide plenty of rope and natural wood perches I still try to shy away from letting them hang out on pumice or concrete perches much.

The perches don't truly trim nails all the time some birds it works for some it doesn't.

I keep Rosie's at mid level, she likes hers so I don't have to find ways to make her use it. She naps on her lowest perches a d sleeps I her highest so this keep her from using it too much.

We just started using these perches a short time ago for our Macaw. They have made a world of difference in his nails!!

Yep this is what we use for Dante de Rose too. This perch is really REALLY good!!

I use the same ones as Copperarabian and they are excellent.Ive got the concrete kind as well and they dont work.
I had to remove the good one out of my gcc cage because her nails got too short and she kept almost falling off my shoulder. She likes to hang out when I do chores and a good grip is necessary.
