I have 2 sun conures, their names are Tiki and Torch and a muloccan cockatoo named Maukie
I have a can of unsalted peanuts already out of shell, is it safe to give it to them for treats?

If it's only peanuts, no additives, it may be fine... although I do recommend feeding actual nuts over peanuts.

thank you!

They should be fine, but keep in mind that most people are keeping away from peanuts as more information on the health risks of them come out.

There are better nuts to offer in place of peanuts. Almonds being one of the best followed by unsalted pistachios.

They're safe in general, but peanuts are more prone to going rancid than many other nuts. They're not particularly nutritious either. But, if you have some around, and would like to share with your bird, you can do it in moderation. :-)

thanks everyone!! Ill also try other types as well!!

the more i read about foods not desirable for your conure's....
the more i realize im too soft on my birds :(

they want to eat whatever im eating/drinking, and i usually let them "dip their beak's"

its hard telling them no, unless i can change the tempo real quick, and offer up some bird treats

I know what you mean! I can't hold Torch whem i'm drinking coffee, because he keeps begging me for it! When he hears the coffee pot making coffee, he gets excited!!

If I'm eating something healthy I'll give Rosie a piece either before I eat it or from a part I haven't touched(don't want her getting my mouth germs). she'll beg at first but if I don't give her some she doesn't push it.
