I have heard many different things when it comes to GCCs talking. I have a pair that are now 6 months old and neither say any thing. I love them to death and spend a good amount of time with them daily. How likely are they to be able to say simple words etc? I don't expect anything extravagant and I am quite fine if they never talk. They are so loving and affectionate. Wouldn't trade them for the world.:rainbow1::10::rainbow1::heart::07:

Even with bird species known to talk, it is always totally up to each individual bird whether they ever do learn to talk, sorry but there are no guarantees about a bird talking, no matter what someone may have told you or what you may have read.....

My Crimson Bellied conure can say a couple of things, like hello, and step up, but it is a growly, low voice and you have to really be listening to make out what he is saying.

My GCC will murmur and "say" things. I have heard him say pretty bird once but very low and gravely voiced. I just love it. Don't think I care if he never talks fully, I just love him chatting away nonsensically. Just the best.

Hi I don't want to hijack this thread but am interested in another bird and love the Crimson bellied conures. Would love to hear about yours.

I'll PM you:)

It's possible they may be saying things and I am missing them. I realize their "speech" is not as clear and concise as some of the other birds. I am hard of hearing so that is why I said I might be missing some things.

I love when they seem to be chatting away or talking to each other. Our macaw has conversations with herself when she is alone in the room. So funny.

Every birdie is different. My GCC quacks like a duck when she's happy. She does say, "Becca," "Brandon," "Trixie," and "What?" in a high pitched voice that could be mistaken for a screech if you're not really paying attention.

In a low gravelly voice she says, "my baby, my baby". My mom says that she's heard Trixie call the dog (Phoebe).

Trixie is about 4 years of age. We got her when she was about 1 and she started talking at about 1-1/2.

I got JellyBean at 6 months old, he wasn't talking... Then on Christmas Eve... he said JellyBean (he would have been 10 months old then) really clearly - I was so excited! He has now extended his vocab to Baby, Love you and now he calls my partners name "Jeff" when he sees his car..

I would be really patient, and just say words clearly and in the same voice!

It really comes down to the individual bird. Some talk a lot, some talk little and some none at all. My GCC is very talkative. Sometimes I don't understand what he is saying, when he is excited he tends to talk really fast and mix and slur his words. But he says things like "What's up Fussy?, What you doing?, What you doing here? Here we go, What's happen?, What's up?" along with a few other things.
The funniest time was when I went out one day and took Fussy in the car with me (he always comes in the car with me and loves his drives) and my friend stopped at a supermarket to get something and Fussy looked around and really loudly said "What's happened?" it was hilarious!

I first heard my GCC talking when i put him to bed. he quietly said "step up" Now he speaks it clearly and loud. He mimics my whistles and what nots too. I think at the moment he's saying "I love you" in that quiet bed time voice but not 100%..he better be! lol! I just think its the cutest thing!

My crimson bellied conure says "don't bite'. Often times he's biting as he's saying it :)

Kiwi will mimic everything she heard during the day late at night . Not as much talking but mumbling. She loves to tell me what the mocking birds said during the day. My sun barks at the dogs and does the sound of kissing and catcalls when she is happy to see me.
