Hey, Just wondering if they can. I always thought tiels couldnt but lovebirds possibly could and that it was because mine is juvenile that he can't. Does anyone's lovebird hold food with their feet? Mine tries to hold it between his been and chest.

I've seen mine hold things down she wants to chew on with her feet but I've never seen her use them to hold things up like some parrots do.

I have had mine for nearly five years and she doesn't hold anything with her feet....she will hold something down like mentioned above but thats about it.

Last time mine sometimes does that ..

I don't think I've ever seen my lovebird do that, shes very adept with using her feet to climb or hang, but I don't think lovebirds' body composition works to get their feet up by their head like that.

Yeah, seems that way, thank everyone for their help. Cockatiels dont hold food with their feet either (because they usually feed on the ground I believe.) My lovebird is too crazily agile with their feet, mine also seems to hold things down (like sticks or paper) while chewing on it. It seems budgies, cockatiels, lovebirds and some parrotlets cant. Thanks everyone.

Karma, the lovebird I had for almost 13 years until he passed away from old age, was never able to hold things with his feet. Like someone else said, he could hold things *down* with his feet to keep it steady. He was "married" to my green-cheek conure Lola for 6 years. Lola would hold food out with her foot for Karma to eat since he couldn't do it himself. She fed him cookies, pizza, pasta, fruit, you name it... Ha! Karma was a lovebird who knew how to work it!
