It reads 'FJA' and '436'

I believe FJA is an indication of a breeder specification; it's the initials of a certain breeder in Arizona. I can't get into contact with that person. I'd like to know what the following numbers mean. What's 436?

I thought the number was the number of that specific bird? I may be wrong. My baby's leg band reads AA NM 62 Which im just assuming means Annies Aviary New Mexico bird #62. I would definitely check out the links posted above though. :)

Since there is no real concerted effort to require banding by any government agencies, the only people who seem overly interested in banding are mainly breeders who are interested in maintaining lineage histories of their birds...the average bird enthusiast often finds banding and maintaining the associated documentation an imposition and unnecessary expense...and...a breeder this year may not be a breeder next year, with any associated records being lost to the ages.....

Even if there was a requirement of banding & record maintenance, there is no guarantee that a person with a couple of producing birds is going to follow those requirements.....who would followup with any enforcement.....your best bet is to keep doing like you did here, post your bird's band ID on other parrot enthusiast sites and hope someone recognizes it and/or check out the links Wendy posted.....

Good luck.....

I assume you're here in the US. There's no regulation for banding parrots. As a breeder you band as you wish with whatever you wish. (Generally speaking). You order your bands with whatever you want. Some folks band with bands from different organizations. ie; AFA, if you went to the AFA, they might be able to tell you was issued those bands. Otherwise manufactures have no obligation to disclose their customers.
