Hello and thank you for posting. the best thing about male Eclectus, they really seem to thrive with other birds and like you stated, keep them in seperate cages or else they will bond with eachother and want very little to do with you.
I have a Green Wing Macaw ( Neleno) 3 years old and a SI male Eclectus (Guapo) 5 years old. They are truely the best of friends, both my boys are very sweet. My Guapo keeps my Green Wing in line and corrects him if he is doing something Guapo does not like. It's so funny watching them and seeing this little Parrot go after my huge Green Wing when keeping him in check. I watch my boys very close to make sure they are playing nice together or when Guapo climbs all over Neleno. I would say go for it.
When your get your new female home, bond with her first, then introduce them to eachother slowly to see how they react to eachother. Male Eclectus seem to get along with all birds where sometimes the females struggle a little. best of luck Joe
