i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I know that cat saliva is deadly to birds when they bite them. My question is what if a cat plays with a bird toy, do I have to throw it away or will it be alright. In my attempt to get Kiwi to play with toys, I went out and bought her lots of different toys that I thought I might try. I put the toy on a counter outside of her cage so that she could see it and get used to it. Then I hung it the next day outside of her cage on the door handle. It must have fallen off and my cat started banging it around and possibly had it in his mouth. It isn't the type of toy I can wash, I could spray some grapefruit seed extract cleaning solution on it which kills bacteria. What do you think?

Since the cat seems to enjoy the toy, I think I'd let him have that toy, and just buy a new one for the parrot.

Yep, just what I was thinking...

i'd just wipe it over, it would be not different from the cat licking you then you touching your bird

I agree that if that cat likes it, let him have it :)
