We just recently built an outdoor enclosure for our 3 awesome birds! I am wondering if it is dangerous to have them outdoors...i know they can get mites, but what about the sun? We have shaded the enclosure so they will not over heat! Any dangers i should look out for? I will post a picture in my album! :orange::grey::green2:

Do you mean other than sand nats, mosquitoes ,hawks, snakes, coons, bobcats, oh and fire ants? I've had problems with all those and more. My aviaries all have 1x2 wire for the larger things and 20x17 screen for the smaller things and a good guard dog for people protection. Don't think people won't hear your birds and try to steal them. I also use motion detectors at nite and 2 dogs.(ones too mean to have out during the day). For heat and bugs i also use fans. Cleaning ,cleaning, cleaning is the best way to prevent issues with rats, mice and ants. Keeping birds outside is one of those things you learn as you go, seems everyday is something new.

My birds are always under supervision when they are in this enclosure, so none of those are threats. Also fog for mosquitoes, and yard is treated monthly for all flies and insects.

All of those pesticides leave a residue on your enclosure, i try to avoid there use myself.

We don't let them spray the enclosure itself. Only the yard surrounding it, just to be safe.
