Perjo is very interested in my cellphone, except when it rings and I’m talking with someone then she gets all bent out of shape. She absolutely does not like me taking on the phone and it’s really the only time she gets extremely mad and tries to bite.

She obviously understands I’m communicating with someone or something else and doesn’t like it one bit . To the point if she’s on my and the phone rings she will take a swipe at me. It’s hard to get her to calm down while I try to put phone down or quiet it down.

Anyone else deal with this? There is obviously some jealousy going on here.

Oh yes!! Apollo gets this way too. The first time he flew on to my shoulder and bit me in the ear . Just short of piercing . The last two times he has flown into my head feet first slammed me and flew off. These were hard hits to, the last one sounded like it took his breath. He dug the nails in as he flew off. I have to keep my wits about me when on the phone and I never take my eye s off of him until my conversation is over. He hates me on the phone.

Have you tried interactive cellphone activity with Perjo as positive reinforcement? Take pics and video him individually and you together, watch his reaction during playback!

Wow, Levi gets very vocal and loud when I'm on my cell as a regualr call. However, he loves FaceTime. Especially, when I am FaceTiming with my parents, they pay him a lot attention.

Maybe you should try a FaceTime call and have him engage & interacting with the caller? Just a thought.

Enzo plays this differently, she always says hello when i answer a call, she says 'yeah, uhu, yeah' during the conversation. When she gets bored of me being on a call she just says 'ok, bye' expecting me to hang up. If i dont she often flies to a door and chews the door frame saying 'NO' or whatever as she knows that gets my attention. So yes its a jealousy thing, jealous of somebody else getting the attention.

She is different on video calls btw, as she enjoys getting in on the action, whe will stand over my phone and ask for head scratches or simply click her beak next to the screen.

I usually get bit if I bring my cellphone anywhere near my head....I use speaker a lot.

My Amazon, Boo, didn't discriminate - he hated all phones, equally. He didn't talk much, unless the phone rang and I answered it. Then he'd start having a conversation.
Hello?
Oh, hi! How are you?
We've been all right.

If he was anywhere near the phone, he tried to take it out. He cracked the screen on one of my phones, when he managed to catch the edge in his beak.

Jacob my blue and gold macaw doesn't let me text when I use my cellphone, if it rings, he'll just say "hello", he says "hello" when my alarm goes off too (on my phone). Here's a video of Jacob not letting me chat while on my phone:

Yes dealt with that. My female U2 will get upset every time. At first she say hello and then tries to talk over me and then she get quite large in size with wings out and tail spread out and aggressive. Normally she won't bite me and just screams and flaps wings throwing a temper tantrum, but she once bit the phone while in a otterbox case and manage to cracked the back glass in one quick snap is all it took. Now my other cockatoo's don't care if I am on the phone, it is only Baby that hate it.

Large cockatoo vs phone, learned that the large cockatoo wins.

Isn't it amazing?

I don't know why, but the Rb hates cellphones, tv remotes, small cameras, garage door openers... anything small and noise-making. HATES 'EM! After 35 years, we've all learned elaborate camouflage/avoidance/defense tactics.
