I'm feeling pretty horrible right now, and pretty sure hubby is going to shoot me if I have to get Kyo to the vet tomorrow because of my own stupidity :(

I took her over to my parents tonight, as I frequently do... I never even noticed that my mom has any plants.

Well, she does. A little English ivy on the corner of a table. Kyo got a bite in and I luckily got it out of her beak, but I am freaking out bad. I can't believe I didn't think to check to make sure there were no plants :(

I've been checking on her every hour, looking for signs of diarhea or vomiting :( I told my hubby and he is pretty mad at me. Doesn't want me to take her in yet but I'm freaking out so badly I don't know how much longer I can wait.

She seems completely normal, but I can't help hut be really really worried. I'm so sad that my husband isn't being very understanding, he thinks I'm over reacting but the fact is I'm not.

I feel horrible. If anything happens to her I'll never forgive myself :'(

I think it's going to be okay. It's normal to worry, but I think if she is still not showing any signs of anything being off, you're in the clear. Thankfully you were right there to see it happen and get it out of her mouth. I don't think she got enough of anything to affect her system.

English Ivy is rarely fatal (involving an allergic reaction), and the symptoms are pretty immediate. I think you got her away from it fast and you should be safe.

It's mostly an irritant, than poisonous. (think protection for the plant) So it should be an immediate reaction of redness, itchy, blistering, stinging sort of thing.

Kyo don't beat yourself up too much. We make mistakes, and we learn. I made a potentially fatal one of my own today - Henry's cage was wide open, cat and dog were both locked inside and I went to pick the kids up from school/take them to the library. I have a solid routine when I leave the house and I don't know how I missed it. Lucky for me, the cat and dog were both sleepy, and we've been training them since forever to leave the birds alone - but still. We make a mistake, we thank the lucky stars, we learn from it and we move on xx

Thank you everyone. I can't sleep I'm so upset… and it doesn't help that I went in to check on her and even though she seems fine I killed about 50 silverfish!! EEWWW EWWWW EWWW!!!! I went crazy spraying vinegar all along the edges of the floor and wall.

Tomorrow I am going to gut and clean that room so hard. Looks like my daily sweeping/vacuum just isn't enough >< This is the first time I've seen any in her room.

Thank goodness she seems 100% normal this morning. That was my biggest scare yet. Thank you for all the support.

So glad shes doing well!

I'm glad your little sweetheart is all right.

I'm glad she's alright! Luckily mine have never shown any interest in plants. I have Hoyas in my room and never worry about them chewing on them. Hoyas are one of those that are on both lists when you look for toxic plants.

Life Happens. No harm no foul. Live and learn!

Normally they don't ingest any of the leaves anyway.

Those are shredder toys.

I am so glad that Kyo is doing great this morning...how terrifying! You are such a good parront, these things just happen so fast.

The little bugger just gave me a huge heart attack LOL

I noticed her tongue was blue a moment ago. I immediately towelled her and looked... whole inside of her beak is blue too!!!

Thankfully, upon investigating the toys in her cage, I can see she spent a lot of time while I was out chewing on blue coloured wood toys from mysafebirdstore.... heh
