I love my little Green Cheek to death, and spend as much time with him as possible, but this is starting to drive me and my boyfriend crazy. My little Green cheek has decided to start chirping for attention. And of course, his go-to chirp is a super high-pitched constant barrage of CHIRPCHIRPCHIRPCHIRPCHIRP. (We call it his "machine gun chirp") He only ever does this when trying to get attention, so I'm hoping teaching him not to chirp for attention will also get him to stop making this noise. (Not going to hold my breath, though.)
We've been ignoring him while he's doing it because we are unable to leave the room till he's done like we'd like to, but we're just about deaf from the intense decibels he reaches. Once he's done I do make sure that it's not that he needs food or water or anything like that, so I know this is just for attention.
Wondering if there's a quick way to get him to knock it off, or maybe at least get him to do something other than that godawful racket that he learned from my mom's lovebird.
(Yes, I realize all birds chirp. His "Happy to be alive" chirps are absolutely darling, and I love it when he makes those sounds. It's this particular vocalization that makes me want to smash my head against the wall.)
