Personally, I don't purchase any toys that contain a lot of plastic or wood. Nalani prefers shredders so I opt for those toys, sticking to as many natural colored toys as possible. However, the only plastic toys I do purchase are foraging toys (ie: wheel, shelves, etc) all of which are made from acrylic or high grade plastic. My biggest fear is ingestion or like your concern, choking.

My rule of thumb is, if you're unsure it's better to just be on the safe side. :D

You need to realize that everything that is sold for birds is not necessarily safe for birds. People design toys based on what they think will work & sell.....and since their designs & marketing are geared to we humans, it has nothing to do with the birds.....

My patty loves buttons, snaps & zippers, so I've learned to wear pullover types when she's on me...when she started re-designing zippers, I thought she was swallowing the little pieces, but after worrying through the weekend, then having X-rays taken, I found she wasn't eating them at all, but just tearing stuff up.....

Oh gosh I have the same concerns. I just purchased a few toys this weekend and after getting them home I started to worry. I decided to put them on Oliver's play stand when he's right next to me while I'm working to make sure he's okay. When I go to work and he's in his cage I stick with the paper shredding toy and a corn on the cob he busies himself with all day.
