Buddy made a mess of his red pepper and boiled egg. He REALLY enjoyed them. Is it a bad thing or does anyone use Clorox wipes to clean cage bars? I don't want to do anything wrong or make Buddy sick, but he did have a super party and it's stuck to the bars of his cage. Recommendations welcomed!:green1:

I would not personally expose my bird or family to such harsh/toxic chemicals. Chemicals like clorox are *much* worse than a couple "germs", IMO. Personally, I just use water to wipe up messes, but if you're really concerned with germs, use diluted white vinegar and a scrub brush.

April had my same thought... make up a spray bottle with vinegar / water split, really does work well. If its really tough spots or such, you can also use lemon juice. Or something we use that really works really well on not just bird poo - Aviclean... Its not cheap, but does work really well for most organic matter!

I bleach to disinfect toy parts and such, but then I literally put them into a bowl and leave them under running water for quite a while, then dump them into a strainer and run them under hot water again. But I would never wipe down a cage with bleach, only time I'd ever use bleach if I could pressure wash the cage after... I wipe down Ivory's cage bars fairly frequently (cockatoo dust), and I usually just use rag and hot water, if any poo spots, then again I swear by Aviclean.
