Does anyone have issues with their bird regarding the clothes you wear? I have two tops. One leopard print the other a very bold black and whit damask pattern. Whenever I wear either of them, neither chunky or his sibling will spend any time with me. Chunky especially, seems to go into panic mode on the leopard print top. He runs frantically backwards and flies away. Same applies on a striped table mat also.

Some parrots do seem to freak out over certain "looks". I hear it's quite common. Robin has been with me 20 years so nothing seems to phase him, but the younger guys do freak if they see me in something different such as a towel on my head or a hat, etc.

When I read the title, I thought it was going to be about parrot clothes LOL :). I still want to order that cute hoodie jacket for Griffin. By the time he gets used to it, it might be summer and blazing hot lol.

I could be dressed like a tiger and Kiwi would be cool with it. Just as long as I don't take my glasses off. When I don't have my glasses on (which is rare) he FLIPS OUT and goes into attack mode because he doesn't recognize me.

Many parrots take issue with bold prints, hates, scarves ect.. It's not an unusual reaction, and the longer they're around, the less they freak out (as they realize you have not turned into a lion about to eat them).

Too funny! I have a pair of pink pajama pants with cartoon cats on them (crazy cat lady here) and my conure is TERRIFIED of them! But so far that's the only thing she's afraid of. I guess crazy patterns/colors can be too intimidating to them... kind of like when you introduce a new toy in their cage and they're petrified of it.

Funny you mention glasses. Chunky isnt scared of them, but spends a lot of time each day trying to pull them off both mine and husbands face. Its a very entertaining play session for him. :D

They are sooo funny! Do birds like them though?

I haven't tried it yet, but there are a couple people here who got these this past winter and they were adorable. Their birds didn't mind them. I can just imagine my Griffin in one, ohh he'd be sooo cute!! Lol. I suspect Griffin might be one of those birds that would take time to get him used to accepting one on his body, that's why I keep hesitating to order one.

Today, I got a hands-on demonstration of "snake! snake!" for anything vaguely tubular. I had a cable tube lying about, my galah went "snake! snake!". I did my usual of showing it to her and telling her it was nothing, but she wasn't having a bar of it. There is definitely certain stuff that sets them off.

I guess they are no different to us humans. Most of us have little fears and phobias. I have decided not to wear the offending tops indoors.

OMG THOSE LITTLE SWEATERS!!

I might need to order one… so cute XD

My birds get afraid of me when I wear a coat, and God forbid, a HAT! :D When they are out of cage, and my hubby walks in wearing a hat, they panic as if 100 cats suddenly ran in! I noticed that the don't like bright red as well. The only one who doesn't care is my lovebird - she is the smartest of all flock. :) My gcc is terribly afraid of paper towel rolls and screams in panic when I take one out to replace. :D

Odd little creatures arent they? :D

Before we bought Chunky home, i envisaged a problem with our reading glasses as we dont wear them all the time. WRONG! He thinks they are his own personal play gym. He hangs down the front by his beak with both feet trying to run up the lenses :D last night was hilarious as he did it to my husband, who got fed up with looking up his butt, so he blew hard, which sent Chunky into a state of shock. His tail flipped up, and the look on his face was priceless! :D
