Cockatiel Chewing/swallowing molted feathers

I noticed my cockatiel started chewing and swallowing the very very tiny molted feathers under the larger ones on his back while preening. He basically chews on them until they are very fine and then swallows them.

Is this normal?

The wound is better, he can move his leg, he’s in nystatin.
