Cockatiel
Hello! I have a male cockatiel named Kiko who is around 4-5 months old.

I read the other day that cockatiels who have diseases can get brighter in colour (more yellow.)

I have inserted a screenshot of what I read and a pic of Kiko.

Kiko has yellow on his body, but how do I tell if the yellow is getting brighter? Itā€™s harder to tell if you have a lutino or a tiel with yellow in it already.

Iā€™m not saying that Kiko is sick, Iā€™m just generally curious about this! Can someone educate me more on this topic?

I HAVE 2 QUESTIONS: if your tiel is sick and itā€™s yellow is getting brighter, is it JUST the yellow pigmentation that gets brighter or all of his feathers in general? For example maybe the grey gets darker or the orange cheeks get brighter or darker ??

Is this ALWAYS an indication of an illness?

Thanks to anyone who replies!

Iā€™ve never heard of feathers changing color in terms of illness, unless you count stress bars but that turns feathers grayish. I think your baby is just experiencing an adult molt and their more permanent colors are coming in!
