It's been two months since my birds last copulated, having previously laid a clutch of 5 eggs, out of which 1 was infertile, 1 was damaged and 1 was DIS. One of the two which hatched unfortunately starved. This was their first clutch so it's pretty regular to lose chicks and eggs like this. The surviving chick is not yet fully weaned, however, and so the parents continue to feed it..- But they have begun to breed once more. Should I be trying to disallow this? How can I do this if I should be trying to disallow it?

It's too late to stop it.
Same thing happened to me.
I only wanted to raise 1 clutch of babies.
I had read that Cockatiels normally have 2 clutches each year.
I thought I had time before they started up again... Wrong!.
So the second clutch I separated father/mother before weening was completed.
Remember for me the second clutch the parents were starting to pluck out the feathers of the babies so I had to separate one way or another.

Ah.. I see.. I'm just concerned about the strain this could have on poor Bobbi! I'll definitely try to figure out something to prevent them by the time the second clutch gets to the same stage as this baby so that they don't do it immediately again. Thanks for the response!
