Quaker - named Blue, but actually green :D
Hi all, I just got my quaker a shredder toy and it has an assortment of colored strips of paper. I had a look at the ground and i've noticed she's only plucked the pink and orange collors. Do birds tend to have a color preference? If so is it better to look for toys/make toys with those colors or am i just imagining things?

As an owner of one of the few color coded parrots out there, you’d think my boy would have an opinion on red or green, but I haven’t noticed any color opinions either way.

I've heard of birds who prefer colors and are scared of other colors. Worked with a caique that was scared of orange.

I have a shirt that drives my cockatiels wild. can't enter the room wearing it.
I have 2 red sweat shirts only one of them is acceptable to my YNA. They look the same to me but not to him.

Never noticed any preference for or against the color of a toy but I am sure it happens.

Bumble dislikes the color turquoise. If I forget and wear it, she flies around like a crazy bird and bites me a lot. She also seems to not love hot pink and red.

The interesting thing about her dislike of turquoise is that if she had a toy with that color on it, that part always dies first!

Parrots definitely can have color preferences. My Quaker parrot Ralph dislikes orange, especially bright orange, which can set off a Quaker alarm call. He prefers green and yellow. Scooter the CAG dislikes anything that's purple and has a preference for green and red.

When I had my Grey, I trained him wearing a grey shirt:

It made him feel more part of a flock, blending in and not standing out to fall victim to a bird of prey.
