sun conure - Sunny
I kinda started to fall in love with Hahn's macaws and contacted a breeder - he is the only one I could find that actually has them and luckily he lives not far from me.... I told him that I already have a sun conure and we talked for a while, then he told me that a sun conure should only be held together in a house with other conures and never with any other parrots like toos, macaws or any other but only just conures :52: sooooo is this true or should I just get a similar sized parrot that I want (well when I have the money and place for it and if it fits my life style)? I know that many of you have a sun and another non-conure parrot in the same home, but I'm just kinda confuzed now.... some thoughts on this please...

i think you can house them in the same house with no problem, as long as you quarantine the new arrival and don't let them share a cage. i dont get why the breeder would say that, many people have sun conures and other parrots. good luck :)!

well the quarantene is a must, no confusion here, and every parrot would have their own cage (I have my own bed too duuuh :P ), but saying that you should never put a conure together with other species just confused the hell out of me....

Well your breeder is partly right, you shouldn't keep conures in the same room with smaller birds because they will attack them, they will even go after large cockatoos(I have seen it happen), and this is all because conures are too aggressive and feisty to be kept with anything but other conures.
However, hahns macaws are very similar to conures not only in size but in personality and feistiness so I think you should be fine. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of people who keep hahns with conures because they basically are conures, as long as you supervise playtime you should be fine.

well Sunny is a bit feisty when she sees a pic or video of another parrot, but it's getting a bit better I think... and cause I want a similar sized parrot or a bit bigger than her, Hahn's would really be great... but is there any other species that goes well with a sun?

and the playtime with her is always (!!) supervised, even now that she's still the only parrot in our home.... nosey little thing, I once made a mistake and left her alone in my room for only 5 minutes, I found her rolling around in my work uniform (that was folded nicely on my desk) and biting off a button  .... now there is always someone (me or my mum) with her when she's out - and she's used to always hang or sit on me (arm, leg, sholder, on/under my shirt).... good thing she's so cute that I can't stay mad at her for long :p
