Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone know any good Congo African Grey breeder in Melbourne, Australia?

I have been to pet stores around me with no luck :( I can order them from pet store, but that would cost a lot. And some pet store sells them for a crazy price! So I'm looking more into breeders.

I might be able to get a Congo African Grey! Since my mum is interested in them, especially their amazing talking ability ( I know, there's no guarantee that a parrot will talk, but mum just love them! :D). Anyway, mum said she can think about it if it's under $5000, because a pet shop told us they are usually between $3000-$7000 depending on the blood line.

I have seen some for sale in Perth and Queensland for only a few hundreds from breeders, but can't fine any near Melbourne.

If anyone knows any breeder that sells them for a good price, please let me know. Thank you :)

Have posted on your other thread if your interested let me know :)

I've been to many pet stores in your area and only ever saw one African Grey.
There's a shop in Glen Waverley by the name of 'Amazing Amazon' which had an one for about $5000, but I can't remember if it was a CAG or a TAG! :)

I dont know if they ship/fly, but the exotic bird breeder in NSW gets greys occasionly, i guess you could ring and ask. but they are very good and all there birds look healthy and not 1 has a feather out of place.

The place is called cystal pet and wire centre.

D: so expensive! I thought only macaws had such expensive prices in Australia, but I guess it makes since since African grays aren't native.

Oh that's cool! Ill see if I can find any that's under $5000 :) But if I can't any, I'll go to Glen Waverley, beside its pretty close to me. Thanks! :)

If I can't find any CAG (which is the one my mum likes), a TAG will be fine too. :)

Thank you! :) They sounds great! But I'll see if I can find any within Melbourne. Personally, I don't really like the idea of shipping birds, it can be too stressful for them. But I'll see how it goes! Thanks again! :)

Yeah, African greys and macaw are both very expensive! I think amazon cost a bit too! I believe macaws are actually a bit more common than African grey here at Melbourne. I have seen a few blue and gold macaw in like 20 pet stores I've been to, and not even one african grey so far! :(

Crystal pet and wire are just around the corner from me and their prices are very reasonable! :) So if you do decide to ship, I can tell you that place is safe lol, I met a grey there and I totally fell in love with her, she was so gorgeous and friendly.

Is that where you got Andrey? ;)

I've already had a look at their website, and it seems to be great! If i cant find any, I guess then ill just ship, since NSW is very close to VIC. Thanks Casey! :)

It's Audrey, not Andrey, lol sorry it's just really frustrating me :p haha

Nah, I got Audrey from a breeder, but a friend of mine got her eccy from Crystal pet and wire, they are a good place. Maybe your mum could call them and put her name down on a waiting list, you guys could always drive down if you don't want to ship, the drive can be done in a day , I've done it lol :)

:D hey lovemyparrots... remember if you see an exotic for less than $1000 its a scam. African greys go for a minimum of $3000 (and thats cheap). $4000-$5000 is a normal breeder price. $6000 is a pricier breeder price. Some are still even charging $8000. Even amazons which are the cheapest of the exotics are still $1500, the cheapest I have seen was $1200. Its only the smaller exotics which have the slimmer price tags :)

I would hate to see you fall victim to a scam! :)

But also.... GRATS!!! I am jealous :D African greys are awesome.

Haha, if I tell mum that, she would probably say to ship! Although she have a car, but she hates driving! Lol :D

And last time on school camp, i went to ACT! And it was a 12 hour drive! And I was SOOOOO bored on the bus! :D

I just really hope that there's more African greys here in Aus! So the price would be a bit lower! :D

And the grey is only a maybe, mum is only having a look at the price, if she finds a healthy CAG that she loves and it's also a bit cheaper, she said she would get it! :D

I'm jealous of people who have macaws! Too bad they cost so much here in Melbourne, they are probably a bit loud for my house. I don't think my nieghbours can handle the noise! :D

Hey I'm an ex Melbournian so I know it's only a 9 hr drive to Sydney... I went to a store near Sydney airport "birdsville" - they had an African Grey and a couple of Macaws there on the weekend.

That is true. They are a little more pricier then crystal pet though.
