Turquoise GCC - Fiji - Hatch Date: 8/14/12 and Yellow Sided GCC - Sundance - Hatch Date: 4/12/13
This is crazy! Sundance, who is my yellow-sided GCC, always had whitish grey colored feet. Just a few days ago, I noticed them turning pink..and now they are getting dark pink-light reddish. What does this mean?

They are both going to the vet Monday, so I will add this to the list of things for the doctor to look at. Do I need to worry about this at all?

Is it possible that his feet are being dyed that color from a toy that is losing it's color?

Good question, Terry57. I checked their cage and here are no toys or perches that have red dye. The color is also on the top of his foot. It looks like his feet are blushing, or maybe like he dipped them in red water. When he perches on my finger, they don't feel any warmer than they usually do. He's not good with letting me examine him, he hates any hands touching him.

OK here is something else I noticed: the red on his chest seems to be getting redder, and spreading to the yellow a little. Maybe this is all just him going thru puberty? he is 9 mos old now.

We'll see what the vet says on Monday, I hope he is ok until then! He is acting normal, eating, sleeping and preening.

I hope everything is ok with him...maybe it is puberty, it will be good to hear what the vet says Monday:) I'm glad he is eating and acting normally except for that.
Please update when you know!

I will, thank you!

Hope it's nothing to worry about. At least he is acting normal. I remember my sun used to have darker feet when he was younger, then turned lighter / whiter as he got older. Any chance you can show us a picture?

Hi all, sorry to not get back to you quicker. The vet says his feet are 100% normal. :) I noticed that the red on his chest was starting to move higher, onto his neck... so maybe his color was also shifting onto his feet? She wasnt worried at all, his weight was normal, everything else looked good. Now when I look at his feet, they look light pink. Whew, what a relief! I guess I'm just an over-protective birdy mom :o

Thank you all, for your concern! :10:

Great to hear it! Thanks for updating us. :D
