Marley- Yellow sided green cheek conure. 8 years old. My sweet angel!
Hello all! My 8 year old green cheek conure has been picking at his feathers a lot lately, and scratching. He is acting normally otherwise; talking, playing, squawking up a storm and eating normally. He's also been bathing and drinking normally. Is it just molting season? I am very concerned, but I have chronic hypochondria, so some of that is kicking in! I would just like some reassurance :)
Thanks!

Is the behavior normal or abnormal? Do you see any grey or bare spots that weren't there before?

Molting season depends on where you live as well as diet and seasons. If you notice anything abnormal, a vet trip may be in order.

His behavior is normal!

I wasn't asking about his behavior per-say... but the manner in which he preens. Is his preening behavior normal or does it seem excessive? Do you see any molted feathers or pin feathers?

If he seems extra itchy then give him more frequent bathes.
