Am I suppose to cover Reno's cage at night? I never have before, but read I was suppose to?

That is up to you. If Reno is in a room that is dark without much going on and sleeping good you don"t have to cover him.

Some people cover their birds some do not. If your bird tends to be easily afriad I would think twice about the cover.

Covering is not nessesary if the bird can rest and sleep without

Spiritbird is right some birds that have nightfright do better uncovered with a small night light. It just depends on the bird and the night life of the home it is in.

Thanks everyone!!! Reno does get frightened easily, but seems to like being uncovered. He likes his little nook! It's dark and he shares it with the cockatiels, so I think I will leave him uncovered. A site that I read made it sound like it was horrible to leave him uncovered. Thanks everyone!!

i have read that covering birds at night makes them feel safe.
I cover mine and they seem to be comforted by it. Once I put the covers on they are ready to go to sleep.
I also read somewhere that the reason it makes them feel safe is that they feel protected from over head predators.
Make sure they get 10 to 12 hours of quiet and darkness.

With certain birds I leave a night light on and I do not cover my birds.

Thank you all! I am surprised I actually did that part ok! Lol!!! Reno sleeps uncovered with a night light and seems to be comfortable! I appreciate the replies. It has always worked for me leaving him uncovered, but I am always open to the fact of me doing things wrong, or something that works better so thought I would check!

I don't completely cover Puck's cage, but I put a blanket on the top to keep it darker if I'm still up, or if we were up late, to help him sleep in with me. He really doesn't seem to care though. He sleeps through my noise if he feels like sleeping. I forget to cover him sometimes and he doesn't care. He's usually awake before I am, and he sits on his door waiting for me to wake up.
