So an update.

My husband lost his job; and we are moving BACK to Virginia.

Little issue is I now have another bird to pack up and we have to rent a Uhaul...

We are towing our car behind it but the birds and the snake need to be in the front with us obviously.

I moved the budgies here the first time in a small bird cage.. but this time we won't have the room for it.

I've gotten Porter's travel carrier and went out to get the budgies one very similar. Cat carriers.

Will they be alright in these cages for three days provided I let them out into the 'flight travel cage' I've made?

A soft sided dog carrier- that has loops sewed into the top that I can hang boings from... and a ladder leaning against the side.

Wow, I like that soft sided 'cage'! As long as there is obviously nothing to get caught on inside, and you of course don't have species who would chew their way out of it, it looks great. They all get along too? That makes it so much easier.

I've never travelled that long of a distance with birds personally, but many people here have. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's situation. I hope the perfect job is waiting for him back in VA. Best of luck!

Should be fine. I would put something stable for them to hang onto though while you drive in case your going over some bumpy roads or anything they may not feel so stable.

Kiwi moved from AZ to OR with us. No issues at all being in the uhaul for 3 days. A bit uncomfortable for use, since we held his cage in our laps the whole time. He really enjoyed the trip though lol. Thought he was the luckiest bird in the whole world to spend THAT much time in the "car" (loves car rides) I would suggest if your birds are not used to the car already or are not big fans of the car, that you may want to go for short drives with them to acclimate them before the move:)

It looks like your flock will have a comfortable ride. Nice portable set up.

Best of luck to you in your new home.

Very creative transport. Sorry about your situation. Good luck in Virgina.

The cat carriers are stable transport.

One low perch in each one that extends the entire length of the cage; wide for good grip and a soft fluffy towel to land on in case they loose balance.

The soft sided carrier is just for rest stops.
