My BFA *LOVES* to dance. He is especially fond of the *worst* kind of late 90's boy band pop music (can you say the backstreet boys, 98 degrees and n-sync? lol). I think that must've been the kind of music he 'heard around' as a young bird, since he would have been hatched in 98/99. Who knows, but he *GOES NUTS* over it and starts spinning/hopping in circles, whooshes his head around, flares his wings, rolls his head around under his wings....
I think out neighbors thought we were a bunch of loonies at our old apartment, listening to crappy 15 year old music while laughing hysterically (at the bird!, but they didn't know that):30:
He also likes a lot of the techno/elctro stuff, and some of the more 'mellow' 60s music, though he doesn't always get *so* into dancing. He does NOT like classical or opera (many zons do), he becomes aggressive when you have those on. We all hate country in this house, Kiwi especially (he crawls to the back corner of his cage and whines, loudly, at anything twangy. I agree and sympathize lol). Your zon and macaw may just not have cared for the kind of music you were playing. They do have preferences you know:54:
My parents have a DYH and GCA, neither of whom dance. Lucy (DYH) enjoys opera (makes happy noises and puffs up), but doesn't dance to it. Barney the GCA would be the one looking at you as though you came from another planet. Their Goffin, on the other hand, barely has to be encouraged to dance, and he likes all music it seems.
I would try playing many different styles of music, and see which one your bird likes (if any, and if so, hopefully its a genera you actually like).
