Day/Night Personality Differences

I was wondering if anyone's bird behaves differently at night. I've had my alexandrine for almost two years now and while he's always been affectionate he doesn't like being petted, typical ringneck behavior. But at night he flies and lands on me and runs his head next to my hand, and loves being petted, and grabs my hand if I stop petting. When the sun comes back up he goes to disliking me touching him with my hand again. Anyone else's bird do this?

My male sennie is like that. I've always attributed it to him being sleepy. He's a lot more cuddly when he's drowsy.

I wonder how much of this behavior is similar to their wild counterparts behavior. Many birds will forage for food in the morning and evening while resting in the middle of the day when it's hottest. However, this may not be the same for all birds.


Casey, my cockatiel, is the opposite. During the day she wants attention, food and (currently... yay! not... lol) nesting places. At night, she wants to be left alone and will hiss at me! (it's a cockatiel thing...) Of course, she can always be won over via scritches! lol


The conures though? They don't care what time of day it is! They'd rather be with me than anywhere else! (except for Jayde.... she likes strangers.... right stranger comes along, she'd rather get attention from the stranger rather than me... I separate her from said stranger and she gets pissed at me! lol)

Raven is more sociable in the morning. By night, he wants to only be left alone in his cage.
