Depressed little parrotlet

Hi, my names alyssa. I began dating a guy that owned a parrotlet, we dated for a long time, lived together and everything so Sunny began very attached to me. He even would regurgitate around me. We broke up and now i'm not with him anymore, however as i come back to get my things he perks up when I see him. Is it possible for birds to miss their owners or feel sad. I feel like he's not happy with me around. I will miss my bird so much!!!
