Dexters Blood Results ?

The avain vet has been off sick and so I've only just gotten a call from her saying everything came back ok, but I didn't really have a chance to discuss the data. I got the secretary to send me the results. As I have little to no idea what I'm looking at, I wondered if someone with previous experience could tell me anything about the numbers...







Any information about what I'm looking at would be appreciated! It looks a little overwhelming for a novice like me

Yeah, a lot of $$$ !

J/K , only an avian vet could really know what those numbers mean, but for the first 2 sections I would assume the normals are in the center part , highs to the right , lows to the left. At least some tests are stated to be negative.

Not knowing much of anything, if the doctor says everything is ok then I’d trust the. That said, I would get more info about some of the key metrics that are way off.

High white blood count could be indicative of infection (overproduction of wbc to fight off the infection). That’s higher than I’m comfortable with allowing for high drifting.

Just overall the red blood cell (rbc) and leukocytes (mhc - immune cells, white blood cells, etc). I’d ask why he vet think s they are all so off. If it were one or two measures I’d overlook it, but it’s the whole dang thing.

But again, I know nothing.

To be clear, if it’s red, it’s outside of the normal range. If it’s one or two things I wouldn’t worry, but within the blood cell specific area, everything is off it’s intended target by 10% or more. I don’t like that, but the vet knows far more than I and for all I know it is actually fine.

I’d ask because they appear off badly to me, and be prepared for a “it’s actually ok” answer.

I concur with chris-md. The third column is the acceptable range for each test. WBC (White Blood Count) looks very high and indicates an infection of some sort. White blood cells are the fighters in our blood. This link I just found may be of help to you.
