Hey there! I have seen some good ideas floating around the net about some DIY cages but not sure how safe they are. I would love to just purchase a premade one but my space is limited and I have to kind of make the cage fit the space and not the other way around.
The dimensions I am looking at doing is 4 feet long, 2 feet deep, and 2 maybe 3 feet high.
Now, this cage will be for a Blue Capped Conure, which is a larger bird but reported to be a relatively calm and laid back bird. I do not have this bird yet, and probably won't for another year or even two depending on some personal things. But I want to have the cage and everything prior to the bird so when I DO finally get a chance to get one, it's all easy peasy. =)
I am no stranger to building things but I know that different animals have different needs and concerns depending on the materials used.
So, what are some materials that I SHOULD use and which ones should I NOT use? All materials need to come from Lowe's or Home Depot though.
