When Rosie is preening I can touch her anywhere, I poke her wings and lift one, and look under her feathers, tug on her primary's and pet her head and she doesn't really do anything. It's cool that she has so much trust in me. But personally, if I was a bird and I was preening I wouldn't want someone messing with me.

Do you birds care if you touch them when they are preening?

I like to use this time to see her pin feathers and check to make sure she hasn't plucked any and that non are damaged.

Darcy is more likely to let me touch him in places he doesn't normally let me (neck, back, etc) when he is preening than when he is not preening. I think preening is an affectionate type behavior, since they do it to each other in the wild, so maybe that's why.

Yep, Bosley let's me touch him lots while he's preening.Sometimes when he's preening under his wings he'll just rest his head there and get into a major head scritch, its so cute

Yes, all of mine do, and for some strange reason they like preening themselves really thoroughly while firmly planted on me somewhere. I think they know that they get the extra attention by me taking care of pesky pinnies they can't reach themselves. :D But I swear, after those sessions I have to vacuum myself. :52:

Cool thanks, I guess it's just a birdie thing then lol

Sometimes when Rosie is preening under her wing she likes when I scratch her head too.
