I've been looking for a second bird to add to my flock, and decided I didn't want another quaker (not that I don't adore my little diva:D) and I decided on a conure. Sun conures are so easy to find and such cuties but the pitch of their call is too high for me. So I was looking through them all and saw Crimson bellied conures. I started looking up all about the and I am in love! Only problem is I had never heard of them until I started looking, does anyone know how common/ how hard it will be for me to find a breeder? Or a guessing price of them?
And if you have one I'd love hear all about them!

Hi and welcome to the forum:D I know a member on here FutureDVM has a CBC. She posted some pics of him the other Day :)

Did you try looking on birdbreeders.com? You can look by state on there to find a local breeder. They are quite beautiful! I think that would be a nice bird to add to your flock.

I breed CBC, they r great little birds! They are not as common as Suns but r getting more and more popular. They are more expensive then say ur GCC and others of the same size so most people don't want to spend the money. That is y the others r more popular I think. I would take a CBC over a GCC any day (and I breed both) CBC are really the best of the GCC and the Sun in 1 bird.

I have a deposit on a hand-fed baby CBC. Should bring it home early Spring.

I love my CBC! She has a great personality and is very quiet. As mentioned, they are pricier than green cheeks. I've seen them anywhere from $275-$600. Not many people breed them but if you look hard enough you can find them. If you have any other questions about personality, etc. I would be happy to answer them!

Thanks for replying everyone!
FutureDVM; people say they are playful and cuddly. How does your baby compare to that?
My quaker is a joy, but she isn't playful like I see some conures are. I would love a bird who plays in my sight (not just when I leave the room and find toy pieces everywhere =P). Also how loud is she? I know birds are never silent, just a general level (high, medium, low). =)

Those are funny looking birds. Most of the pictures I saw looked like someone photoshopped a red vest onto a brown and green parrot. But they are very cute.

I would say that Penny definitely fits the description of playful and cuddly. She ADORES spending time on my shoulder and cuddling up against my neck. Whenever I take her out of her cage, she immediately wants to fly onto my shoulder and hang out.

I just recently got her, and when I first brought her home she didn't seem to be super playful. However, she has definitely come out of her shell since then because she spends a large portion of her day playing with her toys. She especially loves anything with a bell on it.

She does the cutest thing when she gets excited. She'll be playing with one of her toys and all of a sudden she'll start talking, whistling, and making kissing sounds. I didn't even know she knew how to talk when I first got her, but she knows how to say "step up", "tickle" and "peeka". I can't seem to get her to talk on command yet (she only does it when she is playing with her toys).

Her noise level is extremely low. I have had cockatiels and a lovebird in the past, and Penny doesn't even come close to being as loud as they were. She has a very quiet voice compared to most birds I've encountered.

Another thing I would like to add is that she doesn't fit into the "conure stereotype" of being nippy. She is very laid back in general, and when you do something she doesn't particularly like, her first instinct is to fly away rather than bite.
