Hello everyone,

Let me speak about what happened today. My parrot was sick, i saw him closing his eyes which indicating that he is sick, i took him quickly to the veterinarian, but on my way he is starting screaming and Fluttering his wings strongly as well as never before till he completely quit then i knew my parrot is died :(

my question is if the heat can kills parrot in a few minutes?, because it is the summer season here in Saudi and he died in my car in front of my eyes :'(. the temperature in my car was about 48 degree. He died in a few minutes. (approximately 9 to 11 minutes). :(

Thanks

Is that temp. F or C? Yes, birds can have a heat stroke. I am so sorry you lost your bird. That is very sad.

Ifr he was over heating i would think you'd see him "panting" like a dog, and he wouldn't be fluffed up. Very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, I feel your pain
Unfortunately heat plays a big part, was probably a heat stroke, besides whatever else was wrong with him.
Be strong you are in my prayers

48 degrees Celsius = 118.4 degrees Fahrenheit

That is extremely hot. He most likely died of a heat stroke. I would say that at even 80 degrees without air conditioning would be hazardous to your parrot's health. I'm sorry for your loss.

I can't say how quick , but it will kill. Next time i would "throw" him in the shower and give plenty of water, try and remove to a cool spot. I know that's too little ,too late. Do you think it could have been something "new" in the house, like cleaning supplies ?

Yes it usually kills with in minutes, and some times it drags on for hours, that eventually leads to a seizure and then death. I'm sorry for your loss. We just lost our hamster to a heat seizure and there's nothing you can do really to help. It's a scary thing to watch. A hamster does not compare to a parrot, but I know what it's like to be so helpless.

If its that hot it may. I took Roscoe out when it was around 90 he started to panting so I too him right in with water. So o hear your lose

My word, that's warm; I'm so sorry that your bird perished. Cars are, unfortunately, very bad news for pets during warm weather.

That is so sad :(
Im very sorry for your loss.

So sorry, poor birdie! My umbrella, Amigo, withstands temps over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, 118 is pretty excessive. He drinks lots of water, gets sprayed down and has lots of shade.
