be it a person, another bird, or a toy, does your bird(s) show a strong connection, maybe even obsession, with someone or something?

i want to hear your stories :D

Mango, our male peach faced lovebird, has an obsession with his blue toy ball. he is absolutely in love with it. he is utterly lost without the silly thing. we even named it "Blueberry" and he cannot be without it. i have to wash it off all the time, and my husband teases Mango about it, but we let him have his "Blueberry" because it makes him happy. if we ever had to evacuate our home for whatever reason, we cannot leave without that ball or poor Mango will become depressed!

and a video to show to what extent he loves the silly toy lol

watch this one to the end, he knocks the ball off the ledge and follows it lol it's an old video but it is cute

what about your birds? is there a person, bird, or toy they are really bonded to?

Mishka can't contain himself when I get home.
He begins chatting and stuttering from excitement, I kid you not.
This behaviour only ends when he goes to bed at 8pm
He and I have such an incredible trusting relationship

mishka is gorgeous! i hear such great things about greys!

Mango is so cute with her little ball! Its almost as big as she is! I buy Kiwi a lot of baby toys, and one of the first toys I ever got him was this "clamp" out of a toy tool set. He loves the silly thing, and hasn't ever lost interest in it. It's so funny to see him carry this giant "clamp" thing around, and he can sit there and screw/unscrew it for hours. He gets very upset when I have to take it away to wash it, but when I bring it back and he sees me holding it, he starts shaking his tail and dancing (gets very happy). I do wonder why they get so attached to such odd items?

I reckon they are exactly the same as babies, not wanting to part with their favourite play "thing"

Nice stories....keep em coming. I have only had my CBC conure for 3 weeks now but he seems to have bonded with me out of the others here in my household. If he is in his cage out of my eyesight he calls and calls me until I move his cage in the room where I am then he calms down and just sits and gibbers to me. His favorite toy is one a friend bought him it is a wicker round toy with a perch attached and lots of little toys attached to it. He sits for hours and plays on it and he even sleeps on it........lol.

Percy used to be that way with certain things. He was very protective of this one bell in his cage. If i touched it, he went over to check on it and seemed a little bent out of shape. He would always go behind me and move it to a different position and give me a look like "do you mind?!" Have to say it was nearly neurotic, LOL!

Georgie was less that way but she had one pacifier toy that she always liked to stand next to and rub her face on. I actually kept that old chewed up thing and placed it on the shelf next to her photo and her ashes because she loved it so much.

Gosh that's cute of Mango and his blueberry ball. Do you have backups of it in case it gets damaged/stepped on/lost? My lovebird has a ball that shape but a different color. He bashes it around and plays with it, but he doesn't love up to it like that. I'm not showing him that video. :)

i have 2 spares if something ever happened! one is in munch's cage, she beats the heck out of it. and the other is in storage. i keep my eye out for packs of them around christmas time, it was a part of one of those "gift" packages for cats at walmart in their christmas themed toys. i never found another of the same exact ball and i cant find them online either. i dread the day they all break D: he has other toy balls in his cage that he likes to beat up, but he does not show the same love for them.

I'm Rosie's favorite person, but she has a weird obsession with my stepdad. She gets so excited to see him, and a bit hormonal, and will dance and show off for him. She also gets hormonal aggression with him so seeing him is a treat.
