Parrots
gcc Parry; lovebird Coco; 3 budgies (Tesla, Franky and Cesar); cockatiel Murzik, red rump parakeet girl Onyx
I just have to share this... :D
Parry, my gcc is cage free and has his own corner with a curtain in the dining room where he goes to sleep. Sometimes I come to kitchen late at night to fix a sandwich or drink water, and he starts always cursing me in a soft funny voice. :) he says his name and some other gibberish in a pissed off tone getting gradually louder if I don't leave right away.
Anyway, I came to make a quick sandwich last night, and he did his usual thing, when I suddenly heard the word "Nel'zya!" very clearly, and he repeated it many times getting louder and angrier. I speak Russian to him, and it means - Don't do it/Not allowed! He knows that word and it's meaning very well, but I never heard him saying it before.
So he knows what he is saying! LOL

Well, apparently you are not allowed in his bedroom after bedtime!

Funny little critters aren't they?

Zilla "growls" at me when she doesn't like something I am doing or saying.

My CAG scolds the other birds (and people) sometimes, in humanspeak...

"That's too loud!"

"Hey! Knock it off!"

"Stop it."

"Get out of here."

"Stinker!"

and the ever popular:

"Quit being an a$$#@&*!"

Oh mine absolutely do! It's funny, although they probably don't appreciate me laughing at them when they "yell" at me. With Sassy it's usually when I surprise her...Cisco starts jabbering in this deep little voice and walks around like he's disgusted...lol. Peanut doesn't scold me though.

Did you say that to him or he just picked it up from your casual conversations at home? :)

Rosco does not scold me. He acts more like an angry teenager. If he is doing something naughty and I say his name sharply like a scold he will swing around and glare at me with a short "WAAK!" Sounds for all the world like he is saying an angry "What?!!"

How adorable! I am still waiting for Pipa to speak clearly, but she says "hey" a lot when I purposely ignore her.

I'm not sure whether she's scolding me, just mucking about, or it's some kind of displacement behaviour, but if I tell my girl off for biting me, sometimes she'll do her little dance and bob her head, but she bobs like she's attacking you, sort of pecking with her face. It's not really aggressive, it's just a funny little thing she does. She doesn't bit or anything, it's just like a posturing type thing.
