Hey all!
So, where I live in LA it is SOOO hot out and because I don't have a currently working AC, I keep a fan on. I can tell my guys are sleepy because of the heat and so I am trying to keep their space cool. If my fan is directed toward them and the air around them is hot, will the draft cause them to be sick? I have heard that such a difference in the temp can be dangerous. Just wondering, so far I have the fan on the floor so they are not in direct blast.

P.S. I should probably know the answer to this, but I have received different opinions from my friends.

Let me know what you think plz! :yellow1:

I feel for you in this heat! My birds regularly feel the breeze of the fan. I have it on year round in the room at some point daily, even in the winter (since IMO it's still hot enough to have it on then). My birds have always been fine.

Also, sometimes it's so hot in the room, I have to turn the central a/c on and it drops pretty significantly within a couple hours. Although a general rule is to try to avoid more than a drop of about 15 (f) degrees in one day, there's no need to get obsessive about it unless a bird is ill.

Remember, outdoors there are drafts of all kinds. The air is rarely still. I realize your bird doesn't live outdoors, and so might not be acclimated as wild birds are, however, a healthy bird with a normal immune system should be fine. Just don't set them directly in front of the open freezer door right after a bath and it should be fine ;).
