I got a plow and hearth small electric wood stove. I used it outside for about 3 hours before bringing it in the house. Do you think that should be enough time using it outside to be certain it will be completely safe in the house? it had that 'new' smell when i first used it, so i only had it on for about 40 seconds and then used it outside for a few hours.
I thought i saw a thread like this a week or 2 ago and now i can't find it, or remember the title.

I'd probably give it a longer burn-in period, perhaps overnight? I think even an hour at top heat would do it, but if it cycles on and off it might take longer.

thanks. it didn't cycle on and off, but i think i may use it upstairs on the other side of the house for a while now. it had 3 hours of constant use outside and 'seems' ok but i'll play it safe for now.
