Bonita, has Emmy or Paddy ever been checked for the possibility of having low levels of any vitamins or minerals? I just realized that the information I posted about the possible need for extra calcium in your previous thread, may have been mis-understood.....in the case of a hen already in a laying cycle, offering calcium to a hen that is already calcium deficient could be a case of too little too late when there is concern for egg binding and/or soft shelled eggs.....
I realize that all of us have not recovered from the recent financial difficulties of recent years, but we should have a least an annual understanding of our birds' health because trying to correct things that pop up as emergencies may well put the bird at additional risk.....
Not all of my birds enjoy pellets and where seed diets are often lacking in proper nutrients, I've changed & added to the fresh veggies & fruits on my shopping list and every time I have added something new to their diet, we all eat at the dinner table together and eat the same things, with me making a big deal of how good these foods are.....even when I really don't like them ! ! !
Just wanted to be sure you understood that if Emmy was already in an egg laying cycle, adding missing calcium after the fact would not have prevented her from having last minute problems.....
