Our 6-year-old English budgie is constantly at her food cup, but it doesn't seem like she's eating. There's always a big pile of seed under the cup. She's also been biting and chewing on the bells hanging in her cage. Is she trying to trim her beak? Any ideas?

its natural for birds to chew at their toys, my budgies do it all the time. i wouldent reccomend a seed diet for a parakeet or any other bird for that matter as its could make them prone to fatty liver disease and they live a lot shorter lives. do you mean the seed husks? to be sure blowon the food cup and all the seed husks will come off. i always mix the seed cup so the freash seeds at the bottem are easier for them to reach to.

do you mean she is just playing with her food? does she eat it during the day or is she becoming bored with it? you might want to change her seed, slowly, and see if that helps. you can also add a beak block, which the birds will use to grind down their beak. does she seem frustrated? you can add more toys that she may like to chew on.

She's also been really quiet for the last month or so. Very little chirping at all.

i think theyre might be somthing wrong with her, take her to the vet this could be a signal of somthing very wrong.i would say a check up . how is her poop?

Wow, a 6-year old EB! You must be caring for her well. I would recommend a vet visit as well if her behavior is out of the ordinary, that's an old English Budgie.
