I have a five year old Quaker parrot we named Ernie which I found on my backyard fence...........Never would have owned one if this hadn't occurred.........He at first would let anyone play with him but after a few weeks bonded with just me (Ralph) and my wife (Grace) and bite everyone else.....He said nothing when I first found him but has a vocabulary of 50 words or so which he learned in the five years we've had him.......He hates any changes made to his cage and sulks for a week or two before accepting anything different about it.....I have 3 cats so we have to be careful when we let him fly around........It has been so much fun fun having a pet who talks

Welcome! :D Good to have you here! Isn't it great to have a talking pet!!! It is still wired to me that my pet communicates with me! BY TALKING!!!! :D Hope to see you guys around! Have a good stay on the forum! :)

Hello Ralph and a warm welcome to you and Ernie. Ernie is a lucky little guy to have landed on your fence five years ago. I'm constantly amazed at how well quakers can speak. They can be very opinionated little parrots and they will certainly let you know when something doesn't suit them. They also tend to choose a favorite human/slave and pick on everyone else. We'd love to see photos of Ernie.

It's always nice to welcome another Quaker here, and even more so to welcome one whose dad shares a name with my Quaker parrot Ralph. :D
