Captain Jack (Hahn's macaw)

Clover (green cheek conure)
This happened Wednesday or Thursday. I laid on the couch and Captain Jack was on my chest. He was making these chirping sounds, and then was rubbing his beak on my hand and then started bumping his beak on my hand he then grabbed my finger. I thought nothing of it since he has been gentle with his beak. Let us say while he started off not being rough with the finger he ended up being too rough. Maybe he was trying to play? Right now I been telling him to be gentle and he will stop when he hears me. I notice he jerks and bobs his head a lot when perched on my hand

Funny you should mention that. My 15 yr old had her cockatiel on her shoulder today. He's pretty gentle as a general rule. I was preparing to trim his claws and moved to fast toward him... He FREAKED and bit her nose. Rose is a strong girl and doesn't cry very often but she sure did today! Winter even drew blood!

My 12 year old cockatiel that has never bitten in all her life actually bit and drew blood this year... although I consider it a freak accident rather than a well intended bite. She had panicked and accidentally gotten herself stuck, and when my sister tried to help her out, Casey bit her really good!

She used to be the only bird I could say that has *never* bitten anyone! Now it's more like that she has never intentionally bitten anyone. Saying that, I do have two birds who think they are really harming me when they go to attack me but it's more like mock attacking which doesn't even hurt at all... not even a pinch! One will actually bite the snot out of cloth (to the best of her ability), but not to skin, which I find kind of odd.

Maybe he thinks your finger is some kind of beak, and he's just being playful and rough with it, like birds in the wild can be with their flock's beaks. ?????

Captain Jack sounds cute.
