I’m doing research right now because I’m planning on breeding budgies. I have a question.

When budgies first hatch, do I add extra food in the food bowl? If so, how much for 4 newly hatched baby budgies and 2 adult budgies?

Also, do I need to add a specific kind of food? what kind of food do I add?

Thanks guys :)

Have you read this great thread Before I start breeding? It asks some good questions that you should have a good hard think about before breeding.

Yes just add to the food bowl as the parent will do all the work for the first few weeks. The food you add should be a little higher in calcium than usual. As for how much that really depends on the number of babies etc. Best bet is to feed as usual but keep a closer eye on how quickly they go through it and adjust as needed.
