If you don't have an emergency plan with your pets, you need to make one!!!!! Last year someone posted here about it and I developed one, glad I did!

This morning we had severe storms roll thru the Houston area, so bad I received two tornado warnings to my phone. The weather was horrible, black sky, high winds, loss of power, all I had was my phone to let me know what was happening. So I got to enact my safety plan and I'm happy to say it went very well! I know we had at least 5 tornadoes hit the Houston area and both airports were on a ground stop.

With the first warning, I got Venus and Buddy out of their big cages and put them in their travel cages. Then I put them in my closet, next I rolled Buzz's big cage in my closet, he doesn't want to be touched. After that, I ushered the dogs in my closet followed by myself with my phone, tablet, and work laptop. I have tap lights in there so I turned those on. We stayed in there for quite a while and while I was scared, I regretted not bathing the dogs this past weekend like I had planned, lol!

Looking at my news app, WOW!!! We were unscathed but so many people have flipped or destroyed homes and property. The storm has pushed thru and the sky is sunny now.

So I recommend having a safety plan to deal with getting your animals to safety with you.

Houston's my home town... the storms there are SOMETHING!

Glad you and yours are okay.

And thanks for a good reminder.

Taw im glad you are all ok. I think i may have been the one who suggested .

Glad you and the fids are OK, this is a good tip to us all , no matter where we live. Could be flood, or hurricanes, etc etc, we should all have a emergency plan. I am going to discuss with my wife tonight. Good solid St Valentines Day discussion... yeah, right!

In fact it is one excellent St. Valentines Day discussion! Starting Point: For the Loving Concern and Support of those that I Love Deeply, I think we should consider having a Shelter In Place Plan supported by the needed supplies based on our area and a well Stocked Emergency Medical Kit...

That is a presentation of Love that will last much longer than any Card, flowers or whatever else is given! :D

I'm glad you're safe and that your emergency plan worked well!

Dont forget food and water for all.

For this morning, my pigs were set. I was wishing for more coffee, lol!

Sorry you had to validate your disaster plan, but thankfully you were unscathed. As horrifying as the noise, wind, and rain can be, you can bet Venus and Buddy sensed additional aspects we can only imagine.

I have never encountered more vicious convective weather in my flying career than in the great state of Texas, and Houston in particular! Had a particularly memorable incident at DFW a few years ago. They also grow large in New Orleans!!

Stay safe!!

I'm thankful that it all turned out well for you and yours, Trace! And thank you for the reminder! These kinds of emergencies have a way of happening with little or no warning, so it's best to have a plan in place way before you might actually need one.

Oh... and I'm also quite impressed with the size of your closet! Hahaha!

It is pretty large, the largest I've ever had. I've even joked that it could be a bedroom, lol. Everything is bigger in Texas!

Depending on where in SoCal you are, we're looking at tornado possibility this weekend. Make sure those emergency plans are up to date!

I'm in East County, San Diego. We have some chance of tornadoes, but not as much as other areas. I'm not expecting trouble, but I have all the travel cages even more accessible than they normally are. I can get everybody put in cages in under two minutes if I have to, less time with help.

I'm glad everyone is safe!
