Does anyone have experience with Quaker parrot with fatty liver? Mine I fear are displaying symptoms of it due to a diet of nutriberries and perhaps not enough activity. I know now that I will have to make changes to their diet. However after researching health supplements, I see two options to detoxify them. One of them is Avitech Milk Thistle / Dandelion Root - Liver Detox and the other is Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Detox. Could please guide me and tell me which of the two is better(effective/safe to use) or if theycan be used together, alternately?:green::green: thank you

If you suspect fatty liver disease please take your Quaker to your vet for a thorough check up to make sure there’s nothing else going on.

Both products are very effective and safe to use, however, just as chris-md says, you should take your quaker to see an avian vet for a physical and blood work to get a full picture of what's going on. I know it may seem like a waste of money, but getting a baseline and then getting a full work up done again a few months later can give you an idea of whether or not treatment is working, and whether or not adjustments need to be made. If your quaker's condition doesn't improve as quickly as it should, it could indicate undetected health problems that need to be addressed.

Same ingredients different brands...

I used Lilly of the Desert simply because it was readily available.

Mixed it with fruit juice 50/50, and let my bird drink his fill. Offered it to him several times a day.

What are some of the symptoms that you are seeing? I don't have anything helpful to add just would like to know what tipped you off to the problem? Thank you

A bird develops FLD because it has been fed wrong and too much. If you give it all the potions in the world but do not seek CAV guidance (as there are usually infections also) and adjust the diet nothing will change. Act soon to protect your birds life. Anything you give should be with the CAV's approval.
