Our Yellow Nap Amazon Parrot is approximately 41 years old and my husband has had our Parrot since she was 1 1/2 years old.

She has grown a long yellow feather on her wing. We are concerned about this as she has never had a long yellow feather on her wing, her long wing feathers have always been green.

Has anyone had this experience or know what this might mean?

I have seen this in parrot rescues before. How is the coloring on the rest of the bird? Is it normal or also a little yellow? Has his diet changed? I wouldnt worry to much if its just the one feather. Most color changes occur from malnutrition issues and in worst case scenario liver problems. I would contact my vet and get him checked out. If any thing else it will give you peace of mind.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Welcome to you and your 41-year-old YNA!

According to what I've read, if a feather follicle is damaged, the new feather that grows in will often be a different color than the original feather. Usually, it will match the color of a feather somewhere else on the parrot. That may be what happened with your Amazon.
