Aleta - Pineapple GCC (Hatch date July 2 2013), Fry & Sprite - Budgies
Lately Aleta has been turning her nose up at any veg I give her. Doesn't matter the cut, cooked or raw etc. She will eat corn and pepper seeds, but that is it. She eats her pellets and fruit, so I'm not worried about her health-wise.

Lately we've tried:
carrots, peas, kale, cucumber, bell peppers, romaine, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, zucchini, green beans, asparagus, chili pepper, celery leaf, parsley

Running out of ideas what to offer her, so what are your fids favorite veg?

My conure loves cauliflower and apples more than anything in the world:)
Have you tried using a skewer to put some on so she thinks it is a toy? They have them at Meika's and are really reasonable, and come in different sizes.

Kiwi's favorite veggies would be broccoli, any kind of squash/pumpkin, peas and sweet potato.

I would try offering a dish of veggies first, when she is most hungry, and thus most likely to eat them if they're the only choice at the moment. Once he has eaten some, THEN give her the pellets and whatever she will eat voluntarily.

Thanks Terry! I didn't know they had some there. The skewers were on my "to buy" list for my next online purchase. Perhaps I will swing by on my lunch break and get one. :)

Thanks for that idea too Kiwibird! Perhaps I'll do a veg shop and get a bunch of veg again this weekend and try it.

Percy is a relatively easy bird when it comes to veg and will nibble at almost anything. His fave veg, that he will eat morning, noon and night, is sugar snap peas and more sugar snap peas and even more sugar snap peas! :D He will also eat a fair bit of corn on the cob. Oh, and have I mentioned sugar snap peas? ;)

Lol. Perhaps I will include those on my list to try.
We don't eat a lot of variety of veg in my house - or rather I would, but the BF wont touch it, so I only buy what he will eat too. ;) So getting ideas what other birds like, is a huge help! I realize they are all different - One of my budgies loves kale, while the other two birds are certain it is poisonous - however being short on ideas, I'll try anything right now. :)

Christine, if you go there today remember to tell them that you are a member of the bird club...you will save 10%:)

PB and vegetables. These 2 words together make me long for a nice padded room. One day she LOVES kale. The next day she yells at me for daring to present such a lowly offering to such a high and mighty *cough* princess. :54: Then carrots are great! Then carrots are too low-class. Then she loves red pepper! Then she's convinced it's been laced with poison. Then she loves asparagus! Then it smells funny and she won't get within 10 paces of it. Then she loves artichokes! Then when she snubs them and I insist, "But you LOVE artichoke! Remember?!" she gives me the blankest look possible and turns away from me. :52:

I've lost count of how many vegetables we've played this game with. I just put stuff in front of her each day and pray she likes at least one of them at that moment in time. :30:

We need a 10X thanks button Terry!! I totally didn't know that! Will make buying there a bit more affordable!

Bahahaha! I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I have a feeling her tastes will change as we go, but at least we don't do it daily! :D

You are very welcome:) Every little bit helps, for sure:)

Mine LOVE sweet potato, but it has to be steamed and mashed.

Other than that they would eat apples 24/7 if I let them.

Snap peas, squash, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, blueberries, apple. All these are menu favorites in the bird room but they have to be prepared and presented differently for each bird's individual preference. The Quakers and cockatiel like their veggies steamed and mashed. Popeye likes his veggies on a skewer so as Terry said, it can double as a toy. Lately if more than one fruit or vegetable is in the bowl, he gets furious and refuses to eat his vegetables. Some days they clean their bowls, some days they prefer pellets.

Did you ever try to puree veggies with fruits? My gcc doesn't eat any veggies except a bit of broccoli, so I mixed cooked sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots etc with banana and apple. I put it to tiny containers into the freezer and take out one at a time. I add some seeds to this puree and he loves it! Someone also recommended to soak pellets in apple juice - mine eats pellets only like that.

There is a strange love for purple veggies around here. Beet root and radicchio are a favorite....don't ask me I just get them what they demand... they also like jicama which has poisonous skin FYI:)
