Fireplace and birds

I have a eclectus parrot in the same room as a wood burning fireplace. In past years before i got the parrot ive just burned hardwood in it (no scented stuff), is it safe to use the fireplace with the parrot or no?

I don’t use our fireplace.
My reasons are that I don’t think it draws/ breathes right and I could smell the fire.
If I can smell it my birds can smell it.

I can’t say how well your fireplace works.
If I had a pellet stove installed I would have a bit more faith in that.

Ah ok ours is just a woodburning insert, it definitely makes the room smell like a fire when its in use. guess no fire this winter!

I wouldn't use it. Parrots are much more sensitive to smoke than we are.
